Day 3 - Des Moines, Iowa to Portage, Indiana

On Saturday, June 15, we traveled from Des Moines to Chicago, IL where we picked up Terry, Trudy and Chris at the Midway Airport. YIPPEE! We are now all together! We rode into the city (which took forever because the traffic is so bad and it was the playoffs of the Stanley Cup).

First we toured Millenium Park which is at the north end of Grant Park (where President Obama gave his victory speech in November 2008).  The main focus of Millenium Park is Cloud Gate, also called "The Bean."  which was designed by Indian-born British artist Anish Kapoor, was constructed between 2004 and 2006, and is made up of 168 stainless steel plates welded together, highly polished and has has no visible seams. It is 33 by 66 by 42 feet in size.

We walked about a mile over to Navy Pier where everyone was able to find something for dinner and see the big city in action.

On the walk over to Navy Pier, we walked by The Tribune Building which has pieces of rock from all over the world. The new ringers (and old) were excited to find the rock from Utah again this year.

After dinner, we rode about an hour to Portage, Indiana for a good night's sleep. On Sunday, we travel to Kent, Ohio for our first concert!
