Our day started with a sightseeing stop to Santa Fe, NM which is a favorite tour stop for several of us!
First stop was the Loretto Chapel to look at the miraculous staircase (find out about the stairs here)
The ringers learned quite about about the construction of the stairs and what makes them so miraculous!
Remembering to send all our mail (including our Father's Day cards, which may be a few days late!!)
Santa Fe has many souvenir and jewelry shops, where artists from the various Pueblos in the area can sell their jewelry. Several ringers picked out some pretty pieces!
Some of the group went to go see the Oldest Church and the Oldest Building in the USA! The adobe buildings were very cool, and we were able to see earthen floors of in the oldest building that were constructed in 1300.
We were so excited because our concert was at First United Methodist Church, where former CUMC Pastor Jean Schwein works. Pastor Jean (and her dog Cookie!!) will be retiring in a few weeks, so we are thrilled to see her before she starts her new adventure. When we arrived at the church, we were greeted by Pastor Jean and the (unofficial) Associate Pastor, Cookie!
We had an incredibly enthusiastic audience at FUMC, and were blown away by the acoustics of the sanctuary. It made for a wonderful concert!
Terry was able to take a lot of pictures of smiling bell ringers during the concert (no small feat!).
We love showing off our equipment to audience members (especially youth)!
After our concert, we went home with our fabulous hosts in Cortez. Next stop: Salt Lake City for the Area XI Festival: Ringing Up for our Feature Choir Performance!
