Wesley Bell Ringer 2017 Summer tour - DAY 8 - Flagstaff Arizona to Tucson Arizona - Saturday June 17th, 2017

Before we move on to Day #8 in Tucson, I wanted to share some great moments that happened in Flagstaff AFTER posting the last blog!

The Wesley Bell Ringers had the opportunity to play for two former Wesley Bell Ringers:  Tom & Jim Janacek.  These brothers played in the choir with Ed as their director.  After the concert the Janacek brothers spent some time with their old bass bells & were feeling so nostalgic that they even helped pack up the bells (for a minute).  Before the ringers were sent off to their host homes, The Janacek brothers talked to their group about what being a Wesley Bell Ringer had done to shape their lives & provide them opportunities that many youth would never get.  It was a touching moment & one that we will all remember.

The Janacek brothers getting scolding after trying to teach our bass ringers how to ring those big bells to look cool for the ladies!

"These are the same boxes we packed up back in the day"  They said as they helped pack up after the concert.

Always great to have alumni ringers at one of our concerts.

Pamela had a surprise guest at our Flagstaff concert - her cousin Cameron.

We left the cool (so surprising for Arizona) weather of Flagstaff & headed for our concert venue in Tucson.  A quick stop at Food City in Phoenix for lunch (Holden's grandmother would have been so proud!) was a hit for those who were brave enough to venture into a this Phoenix treasure for authentic Mexican food - THE BEST SALSA in the west for sure.  Nap time on the bus & then the ringers had 2 hours at the PIMA air & space museum in Tucson AZ.

What do The Wesley Bell Ringers do when they are at the largest non government funded air & space museum in the world?  You find the machine that spins coins around.

Kids with Navy Vet Bill Noll who flew a plane like the one behind in the Korean war

Connor's got the whole world on his finger

Even through it was 120 degrees outside, this group to a quick walk to some really old planes.

From the Air & Space Museum it was a quick drive to the church in Tucson Arizona.  This incredible congregation treated The Wesley Bell Ringers to yet another great dinner & packed the sanctuary (I think our best crowd yet)  The choir was absolutely fantastic tonight & the crowd was very receptive.

Holden & his Grandpa Doug who came down to Tucson from Phoenix to see the concert.
This cute audience member was so impressed with Charlie that she drew her a picture during the concert.
Tonight Anna had a group of her math friends - Shelby & Paddy come down from Phoenix to see her direct.  It seems as if Anna has friends everywhere!.

Ed with the Wald's.  Lance wall is brother to one of the ORIGINAL Wesley Bell Ringers - Holly Wald Shaffer.  The "Holly Bells" the ringers play today were dedicated in her honor.

What being a Wesley Bell Ringer means to me?

To me being a Wesley Bell Ringer is working together with my choir to create beautiful music we can perform.  It means being a hard worker while being a friend to others.
