The Wesley Bell Ringer 2022 Summer Tour Day 9

Seattle, WA to Oak Harbor, WA

Day 9

Today we got to sleep in a bit, and we all appreciated the extra rest! After breakfast we loaded onto the bus from our hotel and began the drive to get to our next concert location. On the way we stopped at Rosario Beach at Deception Pass State Park, which is a State Park that has nice picnic areas, a clean beach with beautiful views, a ranger at a series of tide pools to teach and answer questions, and hiking trails. It was sunny and warm, a beautiful day. A tradition is that the ringers have one picnic lunch on tour sponsored by the choir, and led by the ringers. We ate together and then everyone just spent time enjoying the views and activities. We also had birthday cade for dessert to celebrate Rachel's 18th birthday. We then left to arrive for the evening concert, at Oak Harbor First United Methodist Church. The ringers all played bells as they sang Happy Birthday to Rachel during practice. Later, the church not only provided dinner, they served us, too! It was a very warm welcome and a well appreciated concert.

Today was a low-key day for us. We left our hotel in Seattle and got to sleep in a little bit! We had a little drive to Mount Vernon where I got to help shop for our lunch. Today we had the choir picnic! We went to Rosario Beach for our picnic. We made sandwiches, had chips, and cake for Rachel's birthday. Rachel turned 18 today! We spent a while at the part, there was a beautiful trail we took that led to a cliff that looked over the water. After the park we drove to the church in Oak Harbor. We met our wonderful hosts who fed us a delicious dinner. Our concert tonight started an hour earlier, so we got to spend more time with our hosts! It was a great day.

A great  concert!

Ann Vogel, a bell ringer who sold sub sandwiches with Ed years ago, was at the concert!

Note: Tomorrow we will be taking the ferry out to Friday Harbor and staying on the island so the blog may be delayed a day...
