Bonus blog — Favorite song & tour traditions, part II

Every tour, The Wesley Bell Ringers play a fantastic concert filled with wonderful songs. Every song in the program is a little different, and each song yields a different level of difficulty for each spot. This year, the choir has arrangements commissioned specifically for the choir, as well as an arrangement by Ed Duncan.

Zooey Regnier, Ringer #498: I love Toccata No. 4 because it's so awesome. It's such a good beginning song to a concert and selfishly, I think the bass row sounds the best. It's also the song where the choir sounds the best. In terms of favorite tour tradition, weirdly, I love doing stuff in pairs and in groups. I like how we go in groups in public, it's nice. The tour manual is also awesome.

Madi Oaks: Ringer #511, My favorite song this year is Suite Gothique because bass sounds cool. We're metal back there! My favorite tour tradition is going to places, like meeting the people and seeing the locals and how they interact. For example, we saw a roller skater with a banjo in Sandpoint ID, you'd never see that except on tour!

Lily Chidester: Ringer #495. Probably it was Toccata No. 4 but now it's Suite Gothique because my bass babes rock it. My favorite tour tradition is probably the fines. I love when I'm able to charge people money for being messy. I am also a sucker for the choir hang outs in the chaperone room in hotels. I've had the time of my life during those hang outs and last year, the twins made me laugh!

Suzy Smith, Ringer #506: Savior of the Nations Come, because I really like that style of bell music. I love how soft and flowy it is, and then it gets very strict and straight. Just the running arpeggios/runs are so cool. My favorite song to play is Christmas Kaleoiscope. My favorite tour tradition is the tour manuals at the end of the tour because you spend so much time with your ringers and make great connections and then you get to tell everyone how great they are. I love looking back at them later!

Conner Manning-Duncan, Ringer #489: I would have to say Toccata No. 4, although Savior of the Nations, Come also comes in a close second. I love Toccata because it's the most fun to play and it's hard. The next one would be Savior because I'm not normally a big slow song guy but that one is just so good. It's not just fun to play but intense, I don't know if that makes sense. For tour traditions, I really like the senior piece during the program, I think that's cool. I just like that we can do whatever and do cool songs like Hotel California. We wouldn't do that normally in the program so that's fun.
