Day 7 - Tallahassee to Savannah

We left Tallahassee and headed to Savannah which was a 4 hour and 40 minute drive. We all got caught up on sleep and did some cross stitch. We went on a tour of Savannah. We met our tour guide at the John Wesley statue at Reynolds Square. The Wesley Bell Ringers are named after John Wesley so this was the perfect spot.

We learned about the history of Savannah and saw some interesting sights. The founder of the Girl Scouts, Juliette Gordon Low, was from Savannah so we saw her home and the location of the first Girl Scout meeting.

The concert was at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.  They had a baked spaghetti dinner ready for us. Joining us for the Savannah tour and dinner was former assistant director Anna Nelson.

There are several churches in the area who have handbell choirs so the concert was packed. The senior piece received a standing ovation.

There were many highlights of the evening including visiting alumni and a cookie reception, but what may have been most memorable was captured in the video below:

After the initial shocked reaction everyone just continued on as usual.  Katie quipped: "And that's why you don't sit in the front row at a bell concert" which everyone loved.

We were fortunate to have a couple alumni ringers in the audience, Pamela and Louis, and former tour chaperones Tiffany and Carl.

We are leaving at 8am and heading to South Carolina for more tour adventures!
