Today The Wesley Bell Ringers went crossed into Iowa from South Dakota but not before partaking in a bit of Mitchell fun. After the concert a couple lucky groups of ringers got the chance to see the World Famous Corn Palace which they had hears so much about throughout the day & it was incredible.
If you ask any ringer, they will say that going to the host families houses each night is truly the favorite part of tour & in Mitchell, this was exactly the case. The choir & chaperones learn more about the local color & culture from our host families than we would if we spend days touring each stop & are fortunate to have such wonderful support.
As usual, it the choir was on the bus bright & early to get to West Des Moines for the concert. Today's adventure stop was at the University of South Dakota & the National Music Museum. Room after room of instruments dating as far back as the 1500's of every variety, make, model, and size. The Wesely's were treated to a private tour & would have spent the entire day there if there was available time. The toughest part was not touching any of the instruments.
The afternoon proved to be eventful as a ringer fell ill, maybe too much excitement at the museum? Thank goodness for Anna & for probably the first time ever in Wesley history, the director, Katie filled in to play for the sick ringer while Anna directed her part. Making memories & Wesley Bell Ringer history in Iowa!
In Iowa we saw the return of Dave Haun, ringer # 56. The choir counts on & appreciates seeing Dave every summer. Also in Iowa, we had our first family come to see the performance. Holden's family from Lincoln Nebraska took a road trip to see The Wesley Bell Ringers. Knowing that we have friends & family each summer willing to drive far distances to support the choir fills our hearts more than anyone can know. Thank you Dave & Wahl family!
