Day 5 - Kent, Ohio to Chester Springs, PA

This morning we drove from Kent, Ohio to Chester Springs, PA, (369 miles) which is about 40 minutes outside of Philadelphia. On the way there, we drove through Amish country with a stop in Intercourse, PA, one of the Amish towns along the way. Here the ringers and chaperones experienced a quickly moving intense rainstorm. It probably rained as much as it rains in SLC all summer in 20 minutes. Once we got off the Ohio Turnpike, the countryside was beautiful - rolling hills, green grass, and lots of trees. St. Peter's Lutheran Church was about a mile up this beautiful small two-lane road at the top of a hill overlooking more gorgeous rolling hills. The church was built in 1889 and couldn't have been any prettier. We were able to play at this church because one of the members is a mom of one of the Philadelphia Boys Choir, and we housed this group when they came through Salt Lake two summers ago. On Tuesday, we drive to Bethlehem, PA.
When we go through a tunnel, here's what happens. Hold your breath and raise your arms!

The Amish travel by horse and buggy.

A pre-concert pep talk.

Walking to the front of the church.

St. Peter's Lutheran Church was a beautiful place to play a concert.

Catherine and Corey's uncle came to see the concert.
Katya and Vanya's aunt was able to come to the concert.

Some friends of Peachy's mom came to the concert.

Jon and Kelly's grandparents and great aunt and uncle came up from Virginia and North Carolina. The choir played at both of their churches in the 2011 tour.

Notes from the Ringers:

Today, while we were in Intercourse, we were trapped in a rain storm. Some of us had fun playing in the rain and it was a fun experience.

We went to an Amish town today and it was really amazing until the rain started to fall that turned into a full rain storm, soaking most of the choir through. Then we went to this beautiful church on a hill that had some wonderful stain glass windows. It was a fun day all around.

Today we went to a little Amish town. We went to a quilt museum and it was actually really awesome. We also had a lot of fun running around in the rain. It was a really cool place.
